We're excited to announce a powerful new feature in WAVE LMS: Subgroups. This new functionality is designed to help organizations, especially larger ones, manage users and training assignments with greater efficiency and flexibility.
Subgroups allow you to create a hierarchical structure for your teams. You can now establish Top-Level Groups and Lower-Level Groups, which is perfect for mirroring your company's organizational structure. For example, a Top-Level Group could represent a company branch or a large division, while the Lower-Level Groups within it could represent individual departments or teams.
How Subgroups Work
This new structure simplifies a number of tasks:
-
Effortless Enrollment: No more manually enrolling new hires one by one. With Subgroups, you can simply enroll the group into a course, and all members will automatically be assigned the training. This is a huge time-saver for group managers and company managers.
-
Centralized Control: Managers of a Top-Level Group have administrative control over all the Lower-Level Groups beneath it. This means a branch manager can easily oversee training for all departments within their branch, ensuring compliance and consistency.
-
Flexible Grouping: When creating a new group, you now have the option to set a group type.
-
Standard: A standalone group that isn't connected to any other groups.
-
Top-Level Group: The main, overarching group that will contain one or more Lower-Level Groups.
-
Lower-Level Group: A smaller group that is part of a single Top-Level Group.

Getting Started with Subgroups
The process for creating a new group remains the same, but you will now see an additional step to choose the group type. Simply select the appropriate type, and if you choose "Lower-Level Group," you'll be prompted to select which Top-Level Group it belongs to.
We've made sure to maintain the simplicity you're used to while adding this powerful new layer of organization. We believe this feature will greatly enhance how you manage training and users in WAVE LMS.
